The MS Society of Canada Scholarship Program, supported by Billy Talent and Friends, is a post-secondary scholarship program for teens and young adults in Canada who have MS or who have a parent with MS.

2010 Edition

The MS Society of Canada Scholarship Program is accepting applications for the 2010/2011 scholastic year.

2009 Edition

The Society has awarded 16 Scholarships to Quebec students

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (MSSC) is proud to be able to assist 16 young Quebecers who have MS or a parent with MS. The young people will receive scholarships from the MS Society of Canada Scholarship Program, with the goal of encouraging their determination to pursue an education.

Making a difference
“It’s important for us to acknowledge the courage and leadership of these young people. We hope to make a difference in the achievement of their educational and professional goals,” says Louis Adam, Executive Director of the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

The MS Society of Canada Scholarship Program is supported by Billy Talent and Friends. This year, the Society awarded 76 scholarships in amounts ranging from $750 to $1,000, for a total of $75,000.

A group’s solidarity with the cause
The scholarship program was born when Aaron Solowoniuk, drummer of the Juno Award winning punk rock group Billy Talent, told the MSSC that he was looking for a creative way to use his influence to help young people dealing with multiple sclerosis. Aaron himself was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when he was 22 years old.

”I am very proud of what we have accomplished but there is still so much to do”, points out Aaron, who is constantly searching for new donors. His commitment to the MS Society of Canada Scholarship Program and other initiatives for young people is now an integral part of the activities the MS Society organizes for children, teens and young adults.

Registrations for the next competition will be accepted starting in January 2010, and scholarships will be distributed during the summer of the same year.
