Letter Writing Tips
Many
MS Walk participants have had great fundraising
success using a simple letter-writing campaign. A compelling
message to friends, co-workers, neighbours and in or out-of-town
relatives can reap excellent results. In your letter, tell them
why the MS Walk is important to you, what your fundraising
and walking goals are and how they can help you to reach these
goals. Keep it short, but make every word count.
Please clearly mark the sponsor's information on the pledge
sheets that have been issued to you and return the completed
sheets to the MS Society accompanied by the cheques. Good luck!
-
Build
your mailing list. Make it a goal to increase your mailing
by 10-20 contacts each year. For past participants,
refer to the gold pages of your pledge books from last year
for a complete record of your previous sponsors.
-
Send
letters to people in your address book, e-mail contacts, your
Christmas card list and people who live on your street.
-
Write a personal note on the letter... you will have greater
success.
-
Insert a scanned photograph from last year's event, one of
yourself or your team if possible. Or how about a photo of
you training for this year's tour!
-
Ask
for a specific amount. Mention your personal fundraising goal
and what you raised in last year's walk (if applicable). If
you would like to know what your personal or team standing
was for the last MS Walk, please contact
the MS Society, Manitoba Division for your national and provincial
standings.
-
Tell
them why you walk...do you have a personal connection? fitness?
great cause? have a great time?
